So-Cal .... it was there in the beginning and we’re all fortunate that Pete Chapouris and Alex brought it back in 1997. So-Cal Speed shop is one of our hobbies longest standing “institutions” and so it was fitting that Pete Chapouris and the So-Cal crew were asked to participate in this pedal car program.

It’s the So-Cal tradition to work with the structure of the vehicle they have... not to turn it into something which is not recognizable as the vehicle it began life as.... and that is the path they took with this cool pedal car. The idea was to retain the original lines of the pedal car but to change the stance and add design detail.  The interior of this car even includes the original leather from the lot used in Petes’ own roadster !  Pete wanted to give special credit to Ryan Reed for his work on the project, and to Gabe’s Custom Auto Interiors who replicated the interior in Pete’s roadster for this project.

Pete said he was very honored at having been selected to participate in this worthwhile project. Many of the pedal car builders are long time friends and associates and it’s very exciting to be working with them for charity.

Pete and the crew at So-Cal Speed shop are all very excited about the 2007 Anniversary of the Deuce. “This is going to be the biggest thing to hit this industry in years”, said Pete.  So-Cal Speed Shop has several projects underway for the Deuce Anniversary.  Doan Spencer passed away in the 90’s but left behind several of his famous cars... So-Cal Speed Shop is finishing the restoration on the Doan Spencer Roadster along with several other cars which will be on exhibit at the Grand National Roadster Show in January 2007.  The Doan Spencer roadster will be done in an “Exploded View” so you can see the inside workings and then after the GNRS, the car will be assembled and go on to the Detroit Autorama where there will be a special “Retrospect” Exhibit on So-Cal Speed Shop.  We can hardly wait for the Deuce Anniversary festivities to begin ..... they’re right around the corner now and we couldn’t be happier about it.
