Bill Boland ~ 1932 Vicky ~ Goodyear, Arizona

Line

The story of my 32 Vicky begins long before I bought the car. A man by the name of Larry Teeters in Elgin, Illinois bought an old Flathead Powered 32 Vicky about 1960. He proceeded to turn it into a C Gasser. Larry raced the car from 1961 – 1964 and it did very well at Mid-Western tracks. The car was featured in June of 1963 Hot Rod Magazine, along with Top Ten Hot Rods of 1963. At the end of the 64 season the car was taken apart for more modifications in the quest for more speed. Unfortunately the Vicky never got put back together. It sat in pieces until I purchased it in the summer of 1977.

I spent 5 years turning it into the Resto Rod that I had dreamt about. The car has a 350 / 350 along with Super Bell & 4 bar, and a 70 XKE Jag rear end. The Vicky is all Steel with N.O.S. Fenders. After finishing the car in 1982 I drove it for 5 summers while living in Rockford, Illinois. I put on about 10,000 miles during that time. At the Street Rod Nationals in 1986 I decided to sell it. I sold it to a man from Vero Beach, Florida and didn’t see the car again for 15 years. In the spring of 2001 a friend called to say that my Old Vicky was For Sale on the Internet in the San Diego, California area.

My son and I went "Just to Look" at the car, and due to the fact that it was still in pretty much the same condition as when I sold it 15 years earlier, and all my memories of hard labor, hours spent with my son and friends came flooding back to me. I decide to buy it back. The man that I bought the car from had stored it for 9 years and had only driven it 15 miles, in all the years that he owned it!
We brought the Vicky back to my home in Goodyear, AZ., and replaced all of the fluids and rubber items and have been driving and enjoying it ever since.

My Vicky shares garage space with my 1932 Sport Coupe (ALL steel), which I have own for the past 10 years. The history on the Sport Coupe, it was bought by couple in 1962, in Glendale Ca. She used it as a daily driver to the school where she taught. At this time, it still had the factory black paint & 4-cylinder. She continued to drive it until she retired. In the early 1990's they moved to Sedona AZ. At this time they had a cosmetic restoration done, and changed the colors to green & black. All the sheet metal is extremely nice. During the years I have own it, I have added juice brakes, a dropped axle, and I am currently in process of putting in a N.O.S. 48 flathead with a 39 trans.

I have been a 32 Ford guy all my life, getting a 2 Door Sedan at age 14, and have almost always owned a 32 since. I have passed on the Deuce interest to my son, who now has a steel Cabriolet.
